Dave Chappelle Returns to SNL
Dave Chappelle, one of comedy’s most iconic voices, made his fourth hosting appearance on Saturday Night Live (SNL) on January 18, 2025. With a 17-minute monologue that mixed sharp humor and biting commentary, Chappelle tackled everything from L.A. wildfires to Donald Trump’s outrageous statements—and took a hilarious jab at Sean “Diddy” Combs.
Highlighting Diddy’s Alleged ‘Freak-Off’ Parties
Chappelle’s jokes about Diddy’s controversial lifestyle were among the evening’s most talked-about moments. Amid allegations and legal troubles, including charges of sex trafficking, Chappelle didn’t hold back:
“I’ve been in a lot of trouble in my day, but this guy Puffy, oh buddy, this guy is in an enormous amount of trouble. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything like this,” he quipped, cigarette in hand.
He joked about not being invited to Diddy’s infamous “freak-off” parties: “Can you imagine if you were me reading the newspaper and found out everyone in Hollywood had an orgy behind your back? None of y’all called me?”
The Baby Oil Raid
Chappelle also referenced a federal raid on Diddy’s homes in Miami and Los Angeles in March 2024. Agents reportedly seized over 1,000 bottles of baby oil and lubricant.
“I’m 51 and I don’t think I’ve ever finished a bottle of baby oil in my life,” Chappelle joked. “A thousand bottles? Thank God they caught him before those fires—can you imagine the mushroom cloud over his house?”
Star Power on the SNL Stage
Sharing the stage with Chappelle was musical guest GloRilla, who dazzled audiences with two performances:
- “Yeah Glo!” from her 2024 mixtape Ehhthang Ehhthang
- A medley of “Whatchu Kno About Me” and “Let Her Cook” from her solo debut, Glorious
This marked GloRilla’s debut on SNL, adding to the excitement of the night.
SNL Season 50: A Celebration of Stars
Season 50 of SNL continues to deliver standout moments. With a special anniversary episode set for February 16, the season has already featured hosts like Ariana Grande and Chris Rock, and musical guests such as Hozier and Stevie Nicks.
Looking ahead, Timothée Chalamet will host and serve as the musical guest on January 25. The A Complete Unknown star will perform songs from the biopic, showcasing his own vocals.
